TerraLun™ – Core Series: A New Benchmark in Lunar Regolith Simulants

Updated: 3 days ago

As humanity prepares to return to the Moon, the need for realistic, reliable, and accessible lunar regolith simulants has never been greater. From rover mobility testing and dust mitigation systems to in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) experiments, the accuracy of the simulated lunar environment directly determines the success of future lunar technologies.

At Hispansion, we are proud to introduce TerraLun™ – Core Series, our new line of high-fidelity lunar regolith simulants, designed to set a new benchmark in realism, scalability, and accessibility for lunar research and technology validation.

TerraLun™-Core Series Lunar Regolith Simulants

Two Authentic Lunar Regolith Simulants: Highlands and Low-Ti Mare

TerraLun™ – Core Series is available in two formulations, each engineered to accurately reproduce key geological and geotechnical characteristics of real lunar materials:

  • TLH-0 – Represents the anorthositic composition of the lunar highlands. Rich in plagioclase, it offers high albedo and low iron content, ideal for optical, mechanical, and ISRU studies focusing on the Moon’s bright, ancient crustal regions. With a 91.7 out of 100 NASA FoM fidelity score it has so far the highest mean score ever!

  • TLM-0 – Emulates the low-Ti basaltic regions of the lunar maria. With a composition dominated by pyroxenes and olivine, this simulant provides the darker, iron-rich profile necessary for evaluating thermal, magnetic, and excavation-related technologies. With a 81.8 out of 100 NASA FoM fidelity score it has one of the highest scores for commercially available simulants.

Designed for Scientific and Industrial Excellence

Each simulant has been meticulously characterized to ensure scientific fidelity and technical consistency.Key features include:

Carlos & Jaime, our founders, after producing the first batch of simulants.

100% European-sourced and manufactured in Spain

Validated through NASA’s Figure of Merit framework

High mineralogical and particle size accuracy

Consistent batch reproducibility

High production capacity (>1000 tons/year)

Competitive pricing and worldwide shipping

These qualities make TerraLun™ – Core ideal for both academic research and large-scale engineering validation, from laboratory-scale ISRU experiments to full-scale mobility and excavation testing facilities.

Enabling the Next Generation of Lunar Technology

Lunar exploration is entering a new era, one led by international collaboration, commercial partnerships, and technological innovation. TerraLun™ – Core provides the foundational material needed to test and validate technologies critical to future missions, such as:

  • ISRU process development (oxygen extraction, sintering, construction materials)

  • Rover mobility and traction performance

  • Dust mitigation and filtration system

  • Excavation and drilling systems

  • Additive manufacturing (3D printing) with lunar materials

By offering a scalable, validated, and high-fidelity material platform, we empower research institutions, space agencies, and private companies to accelerate the path from prototype to mission-ready technology.

Accessible to Everyone: From Labs to Launchpads

One of the core principles behind TerraLun™ – Core is accessibility. For the first time, researchers and companies of all scales can order reliable, reproducible lunar simulants without prohibitive costs or logistical barriers.

Bulk orders are already available, and smaller quantities will be accessible through our online store launching later this year, delivering high-quality lunar analogue materials straight to your laboratory or testing site.

Conclusion

TerraLun™ – Core represents more than just a product line, it’s a step forward in making lunar research and technology development more accessible, consistent, and scientifically robust.

By setting a new standard for fidelity, scalability, and availability, we are proud to support the global effort to return to the Moon and beyond.
